Education in the Forest

Sherwood Forest is a rich and diverse 'outdoor classroom' for all four Key Stages and beyond this for further education and life long learning.
From taking a group to experience the natural world for themselves, supporting classroom work, developing local site links, setting up a study club or learning about our area's history and culture - you can do it all in Sherwood.
There are many sites that can be visited - as well as established places like Clumber Park, Bestwood, Rufford and Perlethorpe there are also many lesser known ones to explore.
Different activities are on offer and can support work in subjects such as Science, History, Geography, Literacy, Art, PSHE and Citizenship, so there is bound to be something that your pupils can benefit from.
As the Sherwood Forest Trust does not operate any visitor sites, education visits must be arranged by contacting individual sites directly.
Use our Interactive Map to find educations sites and their contact details and our Education Database for more information on activities available.
