Sherwood Forest, Britain’s ‘heart of oak’ is known throughout the world as the home of legends. Robin Hood and Sherwood Forest are an essential part of the nation’s heritage and for millions of people the name conjures up visions of mighty oaks and wild forest glades.
The Sherwood landscape and its tranquillity is central to public enjoyment and the region’s quality of life.
The Sherwood Forest Trust is securing the long-term future of the Sherwood Forest natural area, by restoring its ancient heritage landscapes for the benefit of people and wildlife.
The Trust's partner organisations are responsible for the direct management of almost 8,000 hectares of land in Nottinghamshire, at least two thirds of which is in the Sherwood area.
The Sherwood Forest Trust is a non-profit making organisation and UK Registered Charity No. 1119614 (Company No. 5639227). Established in 1995, The Trust is a partnership of local government, statutory and voluntary organisations including:
